Example

You are looking for an article on American History written by Joe Smith. Go to an advanced search, write American History in the first box, use the drop down menu to choose Subject, since American history is the subject of your search. Then on the next line you can write Smith, Joe (or Joe Smith), go to the drop down menu, and choose the Author Name field, since you know that he is the author of the article. By using the Boolean operator AND, you can combine these terms to retrieve information about the article you are looking for.
