What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary Loan is one of the fastest growing services at the University Libraries. ILL is a service that allows you to request materials the Library doesn’t own, such as books, journal articles, and conference proceedings. The University Library is a member of a consortium of libraries that circulates over a million print items. This increases your access to information exponentially. When we receive your request, we contact other members of our consortium.

Requests are filled within a few days. You will receive your article electronically in your SHU email account. In the case of physical books and printed materials, you will receive an email stating the item(s) have arrived in the library for you to pick up at the circulation desk. There are easy, convenient forms online for you to make your requests.
