  • the Endowment

The Sister Rose Thering Endowment began in 1992 as a supporting wing of the Graduate Department of Jewish-Christian Studies at Seton Hall University. Sister Rose served as endowment administrator, recruiting educators and raising funds to defray tuition costs, until her retirement in 2005.

The Endowment Board consists of persons of diverse backgrounds dedicated to support Jewish-Christian Studies as an effective means to allay prejudice through inclusive education.

The Board of the Sister Rose Thering Endowment solicits and oversees the funding of tuition scholarships for educators for graduate courses in Jewish-Christian Studies at Seton Hall University.

  • CALLING DEDICATED EDUCATORS

The Sister Rose Thering Endowment board invites educators in public, private, and parochial schools to enroll in courses in the Graduate Department of Jewish-Christian Studies at Seton Hall University. Courses may be taken on a matriculation (working toward the MA degree in Jewish-Christian Studies) or non-matriculation basis (for graduate credit or audit) or simply for professional enrichment. An undergraduate degree is required for graduate course enrollment.

  • HOW TO APPLY
Application for tuition assistance can be made online or by calling the Endowment office at 973 761-9006.

Contact Marilyn Zirl, Endowment Administrator, to discuss a tuition scholarship or to make a donation to the Endowment's Scholarship Fund for educators.

Seton Hall University actively seeks qualified persons of diverse races, cultures, experiences, and national backgrounds. Qualified students are admitted without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, handicap, or disability.

“I know the power of teachers. It is my deepest wish that teachers in our public and parochial schools, with scholarship assistance, will be able to enroll in Jewish-Christian studies at Seton Hall University to stem the tide of ignorance in our schools and in society.”
