HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF SOCIAL WORK

1. Understand the concept, definition, objectives and functions and methods of social work. 2. Develop knowledge of history and development of social work in India and abroad. 3. The course aims to introduce the learners to the development of the individual across the life span, in a systems and an ecological perspective. It would also help the students in formulating strategies in various social contexts, in order to empower the underprivileged sections of the society. Students would also be informed about various programmes and schemes of the Government and the role of NGOs in their implementation.
