 AmeriCorps Family Village Project
A joint of United Way of Essex West Hudson and La Casa de don Pedro

 

As part of our mission to foster family stability and self-sufficiency, the United Way of Essex and West Hudson and La Casa de Don Pedro Inc. have formed a unique partnership to serve low-income families in the Lower Broadway community of Newark. With the support of AmeriCorps , we are currently seeking community service-oriented individuals to be a part of this exciting initiative, the Family Village Project.

Do you have the following qualities?

·        college student aged 18-24 years old

·        passion for working with needy families and their children

·        ability to relate to diverse individuals in a positive manner

·        strong communication, organizational, and computer skills

    Spanish speaker (opportunities do exist for non-Spanish speakers)

AmeriCorps members will not only assist in providing support to families and children in the Family Village Project, but also design and implement learning and volunteer activities. AmeriCorps members must commit to 900 hours of service (approximately 20 hours per week) which must be completed within one year in exchange for a living stipend of $5,771 and an educational award of $2,362.
