General Description

The Office of Grants & Research Services (OGRS) coordinates the submission of proposals
and acceptance of awards for grants and contracts at Seton Hall University. These grants and
contracts come from many sources, including federal and state agencies, local government, as
well as foundations and corporations.  All Seton Hall University faculty and other staff who
submit proposals for externally funded grants and contracts should first contact OGRS.

OGRS and the Office of Corporation & Foundation Relations will coordinate the submission of proposals.
No proposals
may be submitted without obtaining the appropriate approvals through these offices.

It is the policy of the office that proposals must be submitted to the Office of Grants and Research
Services for review and approval at least three days in advance of the sponsor deadline. This is to
ensure that there is enough time for any changes to be made, duplications, fax copies or next day
delivery of proposals

OGRS assists and advises the University community in obtaining and managing funds for research,
instructional, and public service activities that advance the mission of Seton Hall University.  We
offer a variety of services to those seeking external funding, whether to meet existing needs or for
special projects.  The following information may help you to better understand and utilize our services.

OGRS provides administrative support for the Seton Hall University Research Council. The
University Research Council was established to foster faculty research and to promote faculty
development activities, including the identification of priorities and programs which shall provide
opportunities for faculty growth and renewal. The University Research Council conducts an annual
awards competition for research-expense grants and summer stipends in accord with guidelines
approved by the university.

On the OGRS website, you will find a wide range of resources for those seeking external funding.
These resources include proposal writing guides, searchable databases of funding opportunities,
grant alert services, and links to the websites of public agencies and private foundations and
electronic application systems.  If you have any questions or want to set up an appointment,
please contact the
OGRS.
