An Exhibition of Contemporary Art

Seton Hall University Walsh Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition Diverse Visions: An Exhibition of Contemporary Art from Mainland China and Taiwan, on view from January 15 through March 9, 2007. This exhibition is free and open to the public!

This exciting exhibition brings together works of seven contemporary artists from Mainland China and Taiwan, who are working in a wide variety of media and styles. These artists have all traveled to the United States to further their studies or to work in New York’s thriving art environment. Some have stayed in the U.S. and others have returned to their homelands. But as a result of their travels and international experiences, all are faced with the challenge of reconciling their own artistic and cultural traditions, with a wide range of Western influences. The works that have resulted from this cross-pollination of cultures are diverse yet they all result from their authors’ shared goal of seeking a fitting visual mode to convey cultural duality.
