  • Says in beginning we no longer live in a religious society and then towards the end says Judeo-Christianity retains a good deal of power in our society.  Brandt made an argument then seemed to disprove himself later on.
  • Brandt says it would be hypocritical to send his kids to Sunday school and then later he says raise kids with some religious traditions may be doing them a disservice.  As the essay goes on he changes his opinion and seems indecisive.
  • Brandt tells stories of other children, but only one of his own.  To me this says he is not sure where he stands
  • These people are taught not to take religion into consideration because it could affect the meaning of the truth.  So why does Brandt use them?
  • Tone in essay is almost demanding but a very harsh tone.  This is necessary though because King needs to make the truth of the matter known.  King begins to explain and cite examples of what needs to change on pg 147.  Tone here is more of a reasonable approach.  King changes up his approach, allows the reader to better understand where he is coming from.
