In addition to the projects
outlined in
Work of the Institute, the GK Chesterton
Institute sponsors other projects aimed
at advancing Chesterton's ideas through
the Arts.
The
debates between George Bernard Shaw and
G.K. Chesterton brought Chestertonian ideas
to a new and appreciative audience in the
1920s. Out of their friendly public disputation
came the book Do We Agree? published
in 1928. The debates have been staged twice
in recent years, once on Canadian Radio
with a script prepared by Michael Higgins
and Ian Boyd, and again at the Catholic
University of America with a script by John
Mueller.
A third staging of the
debates will take place at the
Shaw Festival at Niagara on the Lake,
Ontario. The festival attracts an annual
influx of 250,000 visitors. The Institute
will film this production for broadcast
on Public Television. This project is being
supported by the Homeland and Bradley Foundation.
